While Resident Evil Village is the more recent entry in the series, in many ways, Resident Evil 7 might have an edge on its sequel in terms of true horror. Resident Evil 7 was a true return to form for a franchise that had somewhat lost steam as it resembled an action game more than horror as Resident Evil 6 rolled around.
